7 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari – Murchison Falls, Kibale, Queen

Seven days in Burundi are perfectly enough to explore all the beautiful wonders that the country boasts. The trip takes you to all Burundi’s scenic sites and major national parks; Rusizi national park, Ruvubu and Kibira national parks as well as the amazing steamy Karera waterfalls.

Day 1: Arrival. Meet and greet at the airport.

Arriving at the airport, be picked by a knowledgeable driver guide who will transfer you to the lodge for checking in. He will brief you simply about the whole trip. Relax and the lodge, have dinner and overnight stay as you get ready for the next big day.

Day 2: Transfer to Rusizi National park.

After an early breakfast, transfer to Rusizi national park. It’s a short drive that takes you to some of Burundi’s exceptional wildlife like the hippos and sitatungas plus a wide array of bird species that dwell in the wetland environment.

From here you will travel back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Visit Karera waterfalls and the source of the Nile River.

In the morning, obviously after breakfast, drive southwards to the spectacular waterfalls. This is one place that is worth on every African trip. These are a spectacular series of falls located in south eastern region of Burundi.

The falls are located to the south of Rutana and occupy over 142 hectares, being made up of six branches divided on three landings. The cozy atmosphere, beautiful scenery and the soothing sounds of the wild are all that Karera offers.

In the afternoon after lunch, travel to the furthest source of the Nile river; Africa’s longest river. Then drive back to the lodge.

Day 4: Bujumbura city tour.

Start your day with a drive through Bujumbura town. Visit the grave of Prince Louis Rwagasore the renowned hero of the independence in Burundi.

Climb up to the top of Belvedere hill that offers spectacular views over Lake Tanganyika. Also visit the commemorating stone of the explorers. Bujumbura city is one town that you can never get enough of.

Day 5: Transfer to Ruvubu National park.

Immediately, after an early breakfast, be driven to the largest protected area in Northern Burundi. This Burundi’s largest forest neighbors Nyungwe national park in Rwanda.

It offers the best hiking opportunities with more unique spectacular views that you will only see in a few places in the world.

Then drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Kibira Forest national park and Lake Tanganyika.

This morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibira forest national park for a nature walk to spot different species of birds and various monkeys. Have lunch at the site and then drive to Lake Tanganyika for relaxation at Saga beach for some entertainment from some Burundi drummers.

Day 7: Departure.

Very early in the morning, have breakfast and be driven to the airport to catch up with your flight back home.
